Water scarcity is increasingly endangering communities in many parts of the world. The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha is engaged in efforts to conserve supplies of water through rainwater harvesting and well recharging initiatives, and also by building small check dams in western India. BAPS has also helped to revolutionize farming in Gujarat by introducing the drip irrigation system from Israel, using modern farming methods to enable farmers to use less water while increasing their crop output. Over the past three decades, BAPS has been able to help thousands of villages prepare for rainless monsoon seasons and defy drought and famine.
