BAPS organizes walkathons and sponsored walkathons in partnership with BAPS Charities to raise funds for communities in 52 centers in North America and 5 centers in Europe . These charity walks benefit local benevolent associations, service departments, hospitals, and community centers. Youths play a crucial role in raising funds and organizing the entire event. From government liaison to arranging for transportation and to furnishing snacks, youth volunteers operate the logistical side of the entire event in their communities. They also reach out to corporations and local businesses to help create awareness for the cause or beneficiary they are supporting for the walk. Many youths participate in the Matching Gift Program at work in which the employer matches, or even doubles, the amount the employee donates. Others are able to raise substantial amounts of funds through door-to-door visits, their social networks, and, in Magan’s case, waiting at the bus stand !
