Aksher has been playing the tabla since he was 5. Today, he was going to perform with one of the greatest Indian vocalists alive. He advanced through the last 20 years of musical instruction, and he realized that along with the classes, it was the many stage performances by BAPS that put him ahead of the rest. BAPS organizes tabla, Indian vocal, harmonium, keyboard, and Bharatanatyam lessons at many of its mandirs around the world. These classes are followed by an opportunity to perform. This practical application of their lessons is an effective way to boost their confidence and maximize their exposure at the same time. Quarterly recitals at festivals and weekly assemblies help youths track their own artistic progress. Dance and theatrical performances at Mega Festivals organized by BAPS showcase different styles of dance and music from various parts of India. Youths are given an opportunity to travel to India and learn these folk forms of music and dance. These lessons allow youths to stay connected to their culture, appreciate the arts, and develop a talent that sets them apart from the rest of their peers.
