Plays and musicals have been a leading way to share profound stories and principles from the Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, and Mahabharata for centuries in India. The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha has produced a number of theatrical productions based on the lives of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, Shri Krishna, and leading sadhus and devotees and other productions based on moral values such as de-addiction. ‘Kafan,’ a theatrical production on the effects of substance abuse, inspired more than 800,000 people to live addiction-free lifestyles. These theatrical performances are produced with state-of-the-art technology, costumes, and props, while maintaining the traditionalism of Indian theatre.
