The Natya Shastra, an ancient text by Bharat Rishi, teaches the art of dancing. Indian Classical dance has existed for centuries and has its roots in the Vedas and Puranas. The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha promotes this tradition through special folk dance, bharatanatyam, and kachi pudi classes at many of its centers around the world. There are hundreds of different folk dances that identify India’s diverse regional cultures. The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha has researched and revived those regional dances at international cultural festivals in India, Europe, and North America. More than 26 regional dances were performed at the Cultural Festival of India in Edison, New Jersey, in 1991. The organization also hosts regular recitals showcasing the talent of young stars through cultural and devotional performances.
