Sunday 25th April 2004 - National Sponsored Walk
Warm Spring sunshine bathed the courtyard of the Mandir as the over 2,500 participants of the Annual Sponsored Walk gathered before Swamishri, absorbing his blessings and words of encouragement. Having contacted over 47,000 sponsors, 2,560 registered walkers spanning the ages of between 4 to 94 contributed towards a record-breaking year in the presence of Swamishri, flooding Harrow Road in a sea of blue shirts. Swamishri graced the route with his divine presence, offering darshan from his car. Ecstatic kishores performed dandvats on the pavements as a token of their devotion. The sadhus offered their support as they embarked on the demanding journey, accompanied by balaks, kishores and yuvaks. Groups of devotees, chanting the Swaminarayan mantra walked with pride and motivation, spreading bliss to the entire community. The evening assembly illustrated a montage of record-breaking achievements. Swamishri touched on the great service performed by young and old alike.
