Yoga was systematised by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras during the time frame between 300–200 B.C. According to him, yoga was the only way for the soul to know its true self. The idea of International Yoga Day was conceived by PM Narendra Modi, who proposed the concept on September 27, 2014, during his speech at the UN General Assembly. International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21 to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world.
Swaminarayan Vidyamandir Randesan celebrated International Yoga day on 20th June’22. The Chief Guest for the day was Dr. Nima Acharya, Current Speaker of Gujarat Vidhan Sabha, Secretary of BJP, and has also worked as Chairman of Mahila Vikaas Kendra. Apart from this, her contribution towards society is innumerable. She has been running Mahila Taleem Kendra for 25 years. In her speech she addressed all the girls as ‘Shakti Swaroop’ and gave a call to energise all with Yoga Practice. She emphasised on the importance of Yoga for mental and physical health. Citing examples from Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s life she said, “Being girls, you should focus more on developing your personality”. She fondly rememberd her school days and recalled the way she used to study. She guided to have clear goal from day one and pursue it with dedication and perseverence.
A special assembly was conducted by the students wherein ‘INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY’ was celebrated zestfully. The students discussed the importance of yoga and also exhibited yoga postures.
