8th March is internationally celebrated as the “International Women’s Day”. It is an important occasion for all of us to pause for a moment to reflect on ourselves, to appreciate how much has been done and what more needs to be done in the field of gender equality. Moreover, it is the day to acknowledge all the men and women in the world for making this world a better place for everyone to live in.
Swaminarayan Vidyamandir celebrated International Women's day on 8th March '19. After the prayer, Director Dr. Neeta Shah welcomed the Chief Guest for the day, Mrs. Lilaben Ankolia, who is the Chairperson of State Women Commission for Gujarat State. It was followed by a video which introduced everyone to the campaign theme of International Women's Day 2019 that is 'Balance for Better'.
After this students of class 7 and 8 performed an excellent skit on the theme 'Lets Rise Above' which emphasized on the contribution of women to Swaminarayan sect, which was followed by Olympiad and Adhiveshan certificate distribution to motivate the young souls. Lastly, our honored chief guest spoke a few words on womanhood and how she herself is working for the women with the divine blessings of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj. The program ended with a dance drama depicting the power of women not only entertained all but made them realize the great power women have for the well being of the family and society.
Also in the evening, there was a special drama connected to Vachnamrut Dwishatabdi Mahotsav on occasion of Women's Day. The entire day was occupied with programs and activity based on Women Empowerment!
