Among the various aspects responsible for making women empowered, their own safety and security are prominent and probably paramount. This year, series of programs were held on the occasion of International Women’s Day at BAPS Swaminarayan Vidyamandir, Randesan.
In that series, On 4th March 2018, a Workshop on Safety and Self Defense for Women was held at BAPS Swaminarayan Vidyamandir, Randesan. The workshop was handled by Sh. Ruzan Khambatta. She is a young social entrepreneur who is single-handedly responsible for initiatives like dedicated Women’s Helpline, among others. She is also a successful businesswoman and motivational speaker.
During the workshop, Alertness, vigil, reflex, and techniques which could thwart a potential attack were described. It amazed all the officials as well as students the way she explained and recreated the real-life scenario. Not only that, she also made students practice them during the workshop. Students demonstrated on stage as well as practiced among themselves. This enthusiastic, insightful and yet fun-filled session was solely aimed at empowerment. And the delicate topic of safety was handled with finesse by Sh. Ruzan Khambatta.
Students were impressed with the simple techniques which could be very handy and helpful. Empowerment, we believe, does come in small chunks like these.
