In science, it is important to modify and change ones' ideas as science advances.
- Herbert Spencer
This powerful single sentence explains why students should understand science beyond conventional textbooks. The idea of Solar Energy is relatively old but is freshly gaining prominence. Today Solar Power generation is one of the most prevalent and close-to-home techniques for large-scale power generation.
On the occasion of National Science Day on 28th Feb 2018, a visit to Solar Power Plant was planned along with its detailed explanation. Under this, students visited Solar Power Generation Plant installed at BAPS SVM Randesan, Solar Water heaters, and the local Electric power DB. The science teachers explained them everything right from the sun rays, to its conversion to electricity and sending it back to the power grid.
This gave a lot of clarity and understanding to students about how electric power generation works. Also, it is a perfect example to understand the transfer of energy principle. Science came out of books in the perfect manner for them!
