India celebrated its 68th republic day on 26th January, 2017. The students of BAPS Swaminarayan Vidyamandir, Randesan also celebrated their first Republic day together. The 2-hour long program also reflected the ideals that are basic to idea of India.
At 8 am, students came together in the central lawn and took part in Flag Hoisting. With the feeling of belongingness and patriotism, the students Saluted the Tricolour, hoisted high with pride and sang “Jana gana mana”. The morning skies echoed the chant of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” at the end.
The cultural event then followed in which each class represented the “Colours of India” through dance, group song and speech. The Director, Dr. Neeta Shah inspired students with her words and made them aware of their duties to contribute to institution and the country.
Also, an Extempore Competition was held for students. They were given the topics on the spot and had to prepare and speak for it in 5 minutes for 5 minutes. Students took up this competition as challenge and performed well beyond the expectation of all present on the occasion.
Vidhi Dhaduk secured 1st position, while Pooja Parekh and Sneha Patel won 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Few students got inspiration and also presented their thoughts impromptu. Students also sang patriotic songs and built the tempo for entire day and year to come ahead.
