Balika Parayan, a traditional annual discourse that sings glory of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Guru parampara is held in holy Chaturmaas (four moths that coincide with monsoons in India), especially for children and by children. Parayan by students was held on campus on 14th July to 16th July, 2017.
Honoring age old tradition, a “Pothi Yatra” where the book from which the discourse is to be delivered, is carried by women around the village, was held by students. This culminated in the Parayan assembly. Theme of Balika Parayan was “Jay Jay Gunatitanand” on occasion of Akshar Deri Sardh Shatabdi Mahotsav. Parayan was delivered by Prashita Patel (std 8), Smruti Gelani (Std 8) and Priya Sankhavra (Std 9) on the 14th, 15th and 16th respectively. On second day, “Palkhi Yatra” (where devotees carry murti of Bhagwan in Palkhi) was carried out by students and on that day, the parayan assembly ended with bhajan & dance for all.
On all three days, different interesting programs were also performed which gave them messages regarding concentration in studies and encouraged them to score higher. Solo act, drama, video, theme video, dance etc were performed by the students themselves. All the gruh sanchalikas worked hard with students and their performance.
Such programs provide them an opportunity to break free from their routine, provides them with invaluable information about our glorious tradition and past in a format that they prefer and most importantly, facing public helps build confidence in them! Truly an Win-Win situation.
