The FBI’s Jackson office organized a highly productive Interfaith Dialogue event at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Jackson, MS, aimed at enhancing security awareness among religious institutions and community organizations.
Representatives from various law enforcement agencies including the FBI, Mississippi (MS) Homeland Security, and local police departments and local police departments such as Jackson, Brandon, Madison, and Vicksburg, along with leaders from churches, Hindu temples, and community associations, gathered for an insightful exchange of ideas.
Ms. SA Molly Blythe from the FBI delivered a presentation on combating crimes against children, shedding light on critical issues affecting local communities. Ms. Johnson from MS Homeland Security provided valuable insights into the federal grants available for nonprofit organizations.
BAPS representatives Ms. Anisha Amin familiarized the audience with the BAPS organization and its long history of fostering interfaith harmony through personal action and Mr. Jignesh Patel provided an overview of the activities encompassed under BAPS Charities, the charitable arm of BAPS.
During an open discussion, law enforcement officials from Jackson Police Department Deputy Chief Vincent Grizzell addressed security and safety concerns raised by the attendees, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in enhancing safety measures. Representatives from Brandon Police, Madison Police, Vicksburg Police shared strategies for citizen engagement to improve law enforcement services.
The event concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing gratitude for the FBI’s initiative in promoting security awareness and fostering dialogue with law enforcement. All houses of worship in the Jackson Metro area were encouraged to participate in future events organized by the FBI to ensure safety and well-being of their congregations.
The event provided members of different faiths to meet and establish dialogue between the organizations. The event ended with BAPS representative Nayan Mehta of BAPS Jackson, MS extending heartfelt appreciation to all law enforcement agencies and the FBI for their dedicated service to the community.
