His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj led the tributes to commemorate the historic Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla on Saturday 6 May 2023 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.
As the country celebrated the momentous occasion throughout the day, the Mandir was also honoured that the Chair of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha UK, Jitu Patel, was invited to join other senior faith leaders to greet HM The King at the coronation ceremony in Westminster Abbey with a joint message of goodwill.
During the evening assembly, Yogvivekdas Swami, Head Swami of London Mandir, shared his message of congratulations for Their Majesties while Kamlesh Patel, a senior BAPS volunteer, reflected upon the warm, friendly relationship that His Majesty has enjoyed with BAPS for over four decades, as well as his personal affection and admiration for His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
Mahant Swami Maharaj had written a personal letter to His Majesty King Charles III, in which he extended his warmest congratulations on behalf of the global BAPS Swaminarayan fellowship. This letter was read by Paramtattvadas Swami before Mahant Swami Maharaj lighted a traditional lamp as a symbol of auspiciousness and prosperity while young children chanted the Shanti Path – an ancient Vedic prayer – as the whole congregation prayed for peace and harmony to prevail across the world.
In conclusion, Mahant Swami Maharaj addressed the assembly, saying: “Your Majesty, on behalf of everyone at BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha around the world, I send you my heartiest congratulations.
“We pray to God that you remain in good health and can serve the people of this country with righteousness and moral fortitude. May our friendship continue to blossom. We look forward to welcoming you not only here at Neasden Temple, but to our temples across the world.
“Our heartfelt wishes for the success and happiness of you, the Royal Family, and all the people of the United Kingdom.”
