In the fight against the coronavirus global pandemic, there has been some encouraging news regarding the recent breakthroughs in the creation of vaccines.
To help educate the public about the facts surrounding these vaccines, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and BAPS Charities in the UK have produced a number of public health awareness videos in both English and Gujarati.
These have proven necessary and helpful because the Covid-19 virus has affected certain communities more severely than others, including people of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups. South Asians are also said to have been the target of misinformation and scaremongering about the vaccines, resulting in some parts of the community being reluctant to take the vaccine when offered.
One video helps counter misinformation and debunks some common myths while sharing the facts about the testing, approval and licensing of the vaccines in the UK, assuring the public of their safety and efficacy.
In another video, senior swamis of BAPS, a medical professional, and devotees who have received the vaccine share their insights and personal experiences to encourage the British Indian and Gujarati community to take the Covid-19 vaccine whenever available to them.
Sadguru Pujya Swayamprakashdas Swami (‘Doctor Swami’) explains: “Taking the vaccine, when invited, is our responsibility, a moral duty and a great service to our country.”
Together with our other ongoing measures, mass vaccination will form a part of our surest efforts to help fight this global crisis.
