The Hon. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi held a video conference with gurus and representatives of 16 spiritual and social organizations to seek their support in this time of crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic. Prime Minister Modi urged them to play an active role in spreading the right awareness throughout the country to limit the spread of the coronavirus. The PM also requested these organizations to leverage their nationwide networks to ensure that the needs for food, shelter and basic hygiene of the poor are met in this time of hardship.
The video conference was attended by Baba Ramdev of Patanjali Yogpith, Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami and Brahmavihari Swami of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, Sri Sri Ravishankar of Art of Living, Bhaiyyaji Joshi of RSS and Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev of Isha Foundation, as well as representatives of Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Patna Sahib Gurudwara, Brahmakumaris, Gayatri Parivar, Ramkrishna Mission, Dawoodi Bohras, The Christia Coalition, Vardhman Seva Kendra, Caritas, Kalyanji Anandji and Shri Sathya Sai Foundation.
On behalf of BAPS, Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami prayed for the safety of all and Brahmavihari Swami described to the PM the BAPS’s steps to ensure not just resource support to the poor, but emotional and spiritual support to everyone to ensure the mental peace of citizens. He highlighted that adherence to the lockdown will be sustained only if everyone sees it as a religious and moral duty.
Everyone pledged their support to the government’s measures for the wellbeing of the citizens of India.
