On March 25th BAPS Mandirs across the country participated in the World Wide Fund for Nature’s annual Earth Hour. The event, where institutions across the world participate in shutting off all non-essential lights for one hour, is one of several sustainability initiatives BAPS is involved in as part of a larger commitment to support sound environmental practices.
For example, BAPS promotes water conservation practices, tree planting, and sustainable energy efforts at many centers. These values are supported throughout the organization. There are also regular recycling programs and awareness initiatives.
Several BAPS Mandirs turned off their lights for this eleventh Earth Hour in the act of solidarity and support for increased attention and action around mitigating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
