Over 250 people aged between 2 and 80 years participated in the 7-km BAPS Walkathon around the scenic River Torrensat Bonython Park in Adelaide.
The walk raised around $10,300 for Diabetes South Australia, which is a non-governmental organization promoting diabetes awareness and education in the South Australian community. The funds will go towards specialized portable testing equipment necessary for rural areas and for awareness campaigns within the Indian community in which diabetes is highly prevalent.
Peter Crouch, president of Diabetes SA, thanked BAPS for the contribution. Also present werere presentatives of all the corporate sponsors and South Australian Indian community leaders.
