With inspiration from HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj and as part of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha's community outreach programmes, volunteers from BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Melbourne, took part in the Community Tree Planting Day on Sunday 1st June 2014 hosted by City of Whittlesea at Quarry Hills Park expressing their zeal to save the nature.
"Plant Trees, Save The World" was the theme for the day. Trees play a vital role in rural and urban populations. They are essential to enrich and anchor soil, to provide shade & shelter and for biodiversity conservation.
Recognizing an opportunity to help restore the local environment, enthusiastic volunteers braved one of the coldest mornings this year, and planted more than 200 saplings.
Local council members expressed their gratitude to BAPS and its volunteers for its contribution to the local community through its multifarious activities.
