The final phase of the year-long spiritual development programme for senior devotees, entitled ‘Akshardham nu Bhathu’, was attended by more than 320 participants on Sunday 13 October 2013 in the presence of Ghanshyamcharan Swami (senior sadhu visiting from India) at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.
Launched in November 2012, the aim of the two-phase project was to increase spiritual knowledge, encourage regularity in reading of religious texts, strengthen spiritual observances, and develop one’s ability to share and express spiritual messages.
After progressing through the first phase in May 2013, participants from across the UK gathered at the Mandir in London to complete the final phase of the programme.
Individuals expressed an array of talents, including oratory, writing, multimedia and musical skills. The subject matter revolved around the history, beliefs, practices and traditions of Satsang as well as more topical subjects such as the importance of a guru.
The success of the project was observed with positive feedback from the participants, many sharing their experiences of how their spiritual understanding and motivation have increased as a direct result of this project. Delegates also discussed the positive impact on family life that was fostered by working together.
