BAPS volunteers visited the Nungwe Leprosy Camp, nearly two hours away from Dar-es-Salaam. Water and food rations were donated to a hundred families, including some with senior citizens suffering from leprosy. Volunteers went from home to home in the camp to donate the items, personally meet each family, ask about their well-being and offer encouragement. Cookies, chocolates, toothpaste and other items were also donated. BAPS volunteers regaled over 200 children with games and sports. The visit was later covered in the local TV news.
The food rations distributed included staples such as maize, rice and beans, with cooking oil and tea leaves; it also included toothpaste and toothbrushes and other essential items. The children were separately given biscuits, snacks, juice and water with toothpaste and toothbrushes.
