Ambassador Visits BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Nairobi
On 2 August 2026, H.E. General Bacha Debele Buta, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Nairobi and addressed the congregation.
During the tour, the Ambassador explored the history of the Nairobi mandir and viewed the Glorious exhibition. He also showed a keen interest in the mandir's design, intricate carvings, construction techniques, and building materials.
In his speech, H.E. underscored the robust Economic, Social, and Diplomatic relationship between Ethiopia and India. He also expressed the existing investment potential in Ethiopia and urged Indian investors to use the opportunity. His Excellency concluded by formally requesting the mandir’s leadership to establish a new mandir in Ethiopia.
In response, the institution's leaders commended the bilateral ties between the two nations and pledged to open a new mandir, committing to begin internal discussions in the near future. The gathering was attended by over 1,500 devotees.
