Meetings & Interactions
Launch of ‘Spiritual Ecology’
Ahead of the R20 summit, various religious heads and scholars convened for a special tree-planting ceremony in Bali
Chief among the religious representatives were His Excellency Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Karim al-Issa (Secretary General, Muslim World League) and Mahamahopadhyay Bhadreshdas Swami (BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha)
Dr Al-Issa was pleased to meet Bhadreshdas Swami on this auspicious occasion
The occasion marked the launch of ‘Spiritual Ecology’, a movement aimed at fostering balance within nature and society
The launch began with a ritual purification ceremony and offerings made by Balinese Hindu priests
Dr Al-Issa and Bhadreshdas Swami together planted a tree to mark the launch of ‘Spiritual Ecology’
In total, 20 trees considered sacred within Hindu cosmology were planted
Bhadreshdas Swami also spoke about the sacred role of trees in Hinduism and Vedic culture
Noting the significance of the occasion, Dr Timothy Shah later said to Bhadreshdas Swami, “You helped to plant the seeds of a spiritual family.”
Dr Al-Issa warmly thanked Bhadreshdas Swami for participating in the historic occasion
