A Covid-19 vaccination centre has been set up opposite Neasden Temple in London since 2 February 2021
The vaccination centre is open to all members of the local community
The vaccination centre is housed on the mandir’s premises at The Swaminarayan School
The centre is operated by K&W Healthcare, a GP-led organisation supporting GP practices and services in Brent
BAPS has provided volunteers to run the centre safely and efficiently
The vaccination centre is open throughout the working week and certain Saturdays
BAPS has provided the premises for the vaccination centre free of charge
The centre supports the British government’s vaccination rollout that is vital to safeguarding the public at large
The centre comprises a total of 12 pods
The efforts of BAPS volunteers have been integral in operating the vaccination centre
Over 80,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccination have been administered so far
More than 50,000 local residents have been inoculated, with either their first or both jabs
The Rt Hon Home Secretary Priti Patel visited the centre on 3 February 2021
When meeting the NHS healthcare professionals and members of the Army, the Home Secretary said she was “delighted to be here today to see the heroic efforts around the vaccination programme”
“I just wanted to thank you all, and in particular the volunteers, who have made this national effort possible. It is a heroic effort that is saving lives.” – Rt Hon Home Secretary Priti Patel
The Mandir has also provided its car park facility since June 2020 to perform Covid-19 antigen testing
Almost 19,000 tests have been conducted by the Army up to May 2021
Dr Mayank Shah, a practising GP and a trustee at the Mandir, said, “We are humbled to have had this opportunity to bolster the vaccination campaign and testing drive, to play our part in slowing the spread of the deadly coronavirus.”
A mobile clinical laboratory to process the Covid test samples has been operating at the Mandir since December 2020
Hasmita Patel, who oversees the operations at the vaccination centre, added, “We look forward to continue serving the community in the final push to meet the government’s targets.”
