BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha in the UK and Europe observed the UN’s International Women’s Day with an inspiring programme in over 30 centres around the region.
International Women’s Day (IWD), which falls annually on 8 March, was ratified by the United Nations in 1977 to honour the significant contributions of women throughout the course of history.
BAPS’s celebrations, titled “Embracing Our Identity: Protect, Strengthen, Rejoice”, focused on the importance of spiritual and cultural identity, empowering women of all ages to embrace their heritage with confidence.
The programme explored how understanding and strengthening one’s cultural roots can help navigate modern challenges, such as religious and cultural awareness, identity struggles, and societal integration. These themes were thoughtfully presented through an innovative and engaging format following “A Day in the Life of a Blogger”, where a central character guided attendees on a journey of self-discovery, reflecting on faith, identity, and values.
These inspiring themes were explored through uplifting video presentations, cultural performances, panel discussions, and addresses by esteemed guests who shared their personal insights and experiences on what it means to be a woman of faith, resilience, grace, and dedication in the world today.
BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha’s celebration of IWD represents its ongoing commitment to women and matters of importance to women, as inspired and guided by BAPS’s spiritual leader, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj.
