The auspicious Hindu festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated at BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu mandirs and centres around the UK and in Europe. The celebrations comprised a host of devotional festivities, including a ceremonial offering of food (the ‘annakut’), singing, chanting, and discourses.
An enlightening cultural programme drew on the divine life and teachings of Shri Krishna Bhagwan, illustrating the modern-day relevance of ancient Hindu wisdom for living with greater purpose and spiritual fulfilment.
The celebrations concluded with children, youths and swamis marking the divine birth of Bhagwan Shri Krishna with the janmotsav arti followed by the swinging of the cradle accompanied by vibrant devotional singing.
