During the summer vacation, a total of 1,494 yuvaks from 42 BAPS yuvak mandals throughout Ahmedabad participated in the cricket, volleyball, badminton and chess tournaments as part of the Keshav Ramatotsav 2024. Eligibility criteria for all yuvaks to participate in any event were that the youth daily performs puja with tilak-chandlo and attends the weekly yuvak assembly. Each yuvak could participate in a maximum of two sports.
Representing 111 teams, each of 8 players, 888 yuvaks took part the box cricket tournament held at the Net Box Arena in Bhadaj. Each mandal was allowed to field multiple teams. A total of 118 matches were played over 27 days from 6.30 to 11 a.m. The overall winner was a team from the Nikol mandal.
The volleyball competition was organized on the grounds of the Yogiji Maharaj Hospital, opposite the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Shahibaug, in which 324 yuvaks representing 54 teams participated. The competition winners were Paldi.
By the wish of Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami, to consolidate the understanding of mutual mahima, a special activity was performed at the end of each team game. The players of the winning team performed dandvats to the losing team players, and the losing players each lifted a player of the winning team to celebrate their victory. All the youths joyfully joined in this ritual, creating a very emotional atmosphere.
In the badminton and chess tournaments, held at the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Shahibaug, the yuvaks competed in two age groups: Nilkanth (ages 15 to 21) and Sahajanand ( between ages 21 to 27). A total of 247 yuvaks competed in the badminton competition and 92 yuvaks participated in the chess tournament.
The Keshav Ramatotsav helped to strengthen the camaraderie between the youths and encouraged their physical and intellectual development.
