Satsang activities in Leeds  began in the 1980s with a small group of dedicated devotees. In 1990, His Holiness Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj graced Leeds.
Over the years, a property was acquired, and a mandir was consecrated by Sadguru Pujya Bhaktipriya Swami (Pujya Kothari Swami) on Saturday 30 August 2014.
The community in Leeds continued to expand steadily to better cater for worshippers.
The tenth anniversary of the Mandir was celebrated on Sunday 1 September 2024, in the presence of swamis from BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.
The assembly began with a traditional Vedic mahapuja ceremony during which swamis and attendees offered prayers for peace and harmony to prevail in the local community and across the world.
A video presentation charting the profound impact of the Mandir in the local community since its opening rekindled treasured memories.
Swamis discoursed on the positive values that a mandir promotes in individuals as well as the wider society. They also explained how spirituality learned from mandirs guides us to grow personally, within a family, and as a community.
Lead volunteer at the Mandir, Ashish Patel, shared, “It is so encouraging to see how our Mandir has become an integral part of the local community over the last decade and I would like to thank everyone for all their help and support. We look forward to serving the community for many more years to come.”
