Kishori Din – a special programme for young girls aged between 13 and 21 – was held in the presence of Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj on Tuesday 4 June 2023 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.
A kishori began the day by recollecting the sacred pran-pratishtha (ceremonial invocation) of the panch-dhatu ‘chal murtis’ (mobile sacred images) of Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj that was performed by Mahant Swami Maharaj in Nenpur, India, on 31 October 2020.
A group of kishoris then performed a colourful dance to welcome Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj to the programme on an ornate palanquin and seated on a beautifully decorated swing.
Two kishoris then presented a skit during which they reminisced on some of the highlights of Mahant Swami Maharaj’s current visit to the UK, and explained how everyone can reflect on the spiritual greatness of Bhagwan and the Satpurush in their daily lives.
A kishori also elaborated on the history and significance of the murtis of Harikrishna Maharaj and Gunatitanand Swami Maharaj, before the programme concluded with a specially written medley of bhajans, performed by 30 kishoris.
After the session finished, kishoris enjoyed the darshan of objects sanctified by Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj and availed of the opportunity to take individual photographs with Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj before offering their personal devotion through garba (a traditional Indian folk dance) with other mahilas.
