A grand celebration was held to welcome the new murtis of Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj to the BAPS Mandir in Nairobi. The sacred pran-pratishtha of these panch-dhatu ‘chal murtis’ (mobile sacred images) had been performed by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj during the Pramukh Swami Maharaj Centenary Celebrations in Ahmedabad, India.
The day began by a festive procession around the perimeter of the mandir complex during which swamis and devotees joyously sang celebratory bhajans.
The murtis of Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj were joyously paraded in a decorated palanquin. During the mahapuja of Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj, Priyavrat Swami and resident swamis, devotees, and well-wishers offered panchamrut abhishek of Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj. Thereafter a grand annakut was offered.
The evening assembly featured insightful discourses by swamis depicting the historic significance of Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj, and the spiritual importance and method of offering personal devotion to both murtis.
The assembly concluded with devotees honouring Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj.
