Indian Cabinet Minister Shri Piyush Goyal visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Los Angeles, CA on September 10, 2022, along with his wife, Smt. Seema Goyal and the Consulate General of India (San Francisco) Dr. TV Nagendra Prasad.
Currently, Shri Piyush Goyal is the Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Minister of Food & Public Distribution, Minister of Textiles and the Leader of the Rajya Sabha.
Shri Piyush Goyal was traditionally welcomed by Pujya Divyacharandas Swami, Head Swami of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Los Angeles. The entire delegation was given a brief tour of the mandir, during which they did darshan, admired the art and architecture of the mandir and offered prayers at the sacred image of Pramukh Swami Maharaj in commemoration of the centennial birth celebrations of Pramukh Swami Maharaj taking place this year. Addressing a group of devotees and well-wishers, Shri Piyush Goyal shared:
"The temple is fabulous and very befitting of the significant presence of the Indian community and the contribution of Indians to the development and growth of Los Angeles. When one looks back at the contribution of BAPS across the world, in terms of keeping the spirit of Hinduism glowing and flowing in all of us, our children, and our next generation, I believe it is impossible to put a value on that. So I compliment the temple on the completion of 10 years.
I've been privileged to have a special bond with Pramukh Swami Maharaj over the years. As we will celebrate 100 years of Pramukh Swami Maharaj later this year, it will be a very special occasion for the entire world."
