The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated the world over the last 16 months. Nations around the world continue to be challenged by the wide-reaching impact of a constantly evolving and mutating virus. Currently, India as a nation is being brutally tested – millions are impacted and thousands have perished.
At this urgent time of need, India’s friends and widespread diaspora have activated themselves on a large scale to help the Indian people. India’s great ally, the United Arab Emirates has dedicated itself to support India in every way possible. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, HRH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan has recently expressed the nation’s sentiment in committing the UAE’s full support and keenness to dedicate every necessary resource in supporting India’s battle with COVID 19.
In line with the vision of UAE’s leadership and with the support of members of UAE’s Indian community, BAPS Hindu Mandir, Abu Dhabi, under the guidance and inspiration of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, is working to create a supply chain of oxygen tanks and cylinders which will provide upwards of 440 metric tons of liquid oxygen per month starting this week – this should be able to fill more than 50,000 cylinders of medical oxygen. Each oxygen source has been technically audited to assure that India’s standards for medical oxygen are met or exceeded. This oxygen will be provided to the needy through the government, BAPS’s own network of COVID hospitals and special village clinics.
The first round of relief being sent this week will include 44 metric tons of liquid oxygen, 30,000 litres of medical oxygen gas in 600 cylinders and 130 oxygen concentrators. The first movement of materials to Gujarat has occurred today.
Logistical support for these humanitarian efforts is being provided by the Transworld Group via air and sea.
Sadhus and volunteers of the BAPS Hindu Mandir have joined community members in creating a dedicated supply chain of support and services.
With these efforts, we also request everyone to join themselves in earnest prayer and devotion. May the Almighty show his grace and compassion on India and the world in these most devastating times.
