Satsang activities in Wellingborough began in 1972 with a small group of dedicated devotees. Over the next five years, a property was acquired and a small mandir was consecrated by His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj on 30 July 1977.
The community in Wellingborough continued to expand steadily. To better cater for worshippers and members of the local community, a new mandir was inaugurated on 23 August 2009.
The 10th anniversary of the Mandir was celebrated on Saturday 14 September 2019 in the presence of swamis from BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.
The evening assembly began with a traditional Vedic mahapuja ceremony during which swamis and attendees offered prayers for peace and harmony to prevail in the local community and across the world.
A video presentation charting the profound impact of the Mandir in the local community since its opening rekindled treasured memories.
Swamis discoursed on the positive values that a mandir promotes in individuals as well as the wider society. They also explained the spiritual significance of the Akshar Deri (a beautiful shrine housed within the mandir) and encouraged everyone to imbibe unity and togetherness in their lives.
A montage of video blessings from senior swamis recorded for the Mandir’s anniversary celebrations were also presented, before the festivities were concluded with prayers offered to Mahant Swami Maharaj for his continued guidance.
Lead coordinator of the Mandir, Rajesh Ladwa, shared, “It is so encouraging to see how our Mandir has become an integral part of the local community over the last decade and I would like to thank everyone for all their help and support. We look forward to serving the community for another 10 years and beyond.”
