Devotees, well-wishers and dignitaries from across all Canada came together in the presence of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto. The environment was filled with excitement, anticipation, and happiness as Indo-Canadian community joined BAPS in celebrating this monumental event. As Canada celebrates its 150th birthday, the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Mandir highlighted its important place in Canada’s unique and diverse culture. The 10 day event further served to commemorate the Mandir as one of Canada’s architectural and multi-cultural wonders.
In 2007, His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj inaugurated the mandir with jubilation in the presence of then Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Ten years later, the current spiritual leader of BAPS, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj carried the legacy forward by marking this milestone in the presence of the current Prime Minister of Canada, The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau along with the Mayor of Toronto, His Worship John Tory. His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj was presented the Key to the City of Toronto by the Mayor, to honour the contributions of BAPS to the city through his inspiration. Dr. Shafiq Qaadri, MPP, Etobicoke-North also brought a message of congratulations from the Government of Ontario.
As his third stop in his 2017 North America tour, his visit to Toronto involved 10 days of festivities which were celebrated with exuberance and merriment. The programs included special events for the youth (Yuvak-Yuvati din, Bal-Balika din, and Kishore-Kishori din), as well as a cultural event for women (Mahila din) followed by a 2 day spiritual conference (satsang shibir). The grand celebration of the 10th anniversary included an awe-inspiring evening program in the presence various devotees and dignitaries including

On the final day His Holiness Mahant Swami dispersed the holy ashes of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj in Canada’s iconic Niagara Falls as a tribute and gratitude to His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
