Chaitra Sud Nom marks the birth of both Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Bhagwan Ram. The women of BAPS North America celebrated both auspicious events by presenting a cultural program with the theme of Vachan Vahlaji nu shir se hoon dharu. Speeches, drama skits, emcees, and cultural dances reiterated the stories of Bhagwan Ram's and Bhagwan Swaminarayan's mission to instill Ekantik Dharma and guide people towards the path of moksha. The audience saw many examples of how devotees during Bhagwan Swaminarayan's and Bhagwan Ram's time took firm refuge in Bhagwan himself. And Bhagwan in turn showered His compassion upon these devotees: saving them from physical harm, leading them away from the path of kusang, and ultimately giving them the bliss of liberation.
The event renewed the audience's understanding of Bhagwan Swaminarayan's greatness and their passion for following His aagnas. They were reminded that although Bhagwan Swaminarayan was no longer physically on this Earth, Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj have been able to engender dharma amongst thousands of individuals, encouraging them to lead more virtuous lives by becoming vegetarian, by refraining from alcohol and drugs use, and by abstaining from gambling. The take home message, which resonated with many of the attendees, was to develop the same firm resolution that the devotees had during the times of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Bhagwan Ram.
