April 5th, 2017, Chaitra Sud Nom, marks the birthday of Bhagwan Ram and the 236th birthday of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. To celebrate this joyous occasion, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandirs across North America held samaiyos centralized around the theme: "Bhaktavatsal Hari Birud Tiharo," meaning Bhagwan Swaminarayan's resolve to care for his devotees. The emcees, drama skits, story, and dances explained how Bhagwan Ram and Maharaj had always cared for their devotees and how those devotees came to have such a firm resolve in them.
In Vachnamrut Vadtal-19, Maharaj has said "Whenever a jiva attains a human body in Bharat-khand, God's avatars or God's sadhus will certainly also be present on earth at that time. If that jiva can recognize them, then he becomes a devotee of God... Also, whatever a devotee of God wishes for comes true." This samaiyo brought to life examples of Maharaj guiding the devotees of that time by removing their swabhavs, making their antahkarans pure and ultimately giving them moksha. Celebrating Swaminarayan Jayanti honored Maharaj's work in reforming Hinduism and instilling a strong sense of Ekantik Dharma in all of his haribhaktos. His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj cultivated these same values within devotees and today, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, is continuing to do the same and guiding devotees toward moksha.
