As part of the year-long festivities celebrating the 97th birthday of Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the central office of the BAPS Women’s Wing in Ahemdabad organized a special padyatra (pilgrimage by foot) from BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Atladara to Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s birthplace in Chansad. More than 3,000 women devotees from 30 centers from the Kheda Zone participated.
The pilgrims walked the 12 km distance between 6.00 and 8.10 a.m. with great devotion. While walking, the pilgrims listened to and sang the dhun and bhajans, and some also continuously turned the rosary.
In Chansad, the pilgrims first had the darshan at the Hanuman Gadhi Mandir, and then the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, where they also performed pradakshinas and offered prostrations. Thereafter, the pilgrims had darshan at the birthplace of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
On their return to Atladara all the pilgrims participated a short assembly, and prayed for the good health and long life of guruhari Mahant Swami Maharaj.
