Around by 160 kishores and kishoris from 7 centres around South Africa (Mayfair, Lenasia, Laudium, Durban, Cape Town, Benoni, and Tzaneen) attended the national shibir held in the presence of BAPS sadhus.
Based on the theme “Hinduism – Nijatmanam Brahmarupam”, the 3-day shibir provided insight to the kishores and kishoris on the Hindu principles of: brahmavidya, atmanishtha, karma and punarjanma, guru-shishya alliance, moksha and others
The shibir topics were presented by the sadhus through lectures, workshop sessions and activities; enabling kishores and kishoris to interact and learn how these principles are incorporated in the Swaminarayan Sampradaya.
By using interactive mediums set up around the shibir complex, the participants were able to introspect about the questions related to Hinduism that are commonly raised in the minds of youth. These included dashboards to jot down their ideas regarding some of the burning questions youths have about Hindu ideals, visuals of some of the important verses from the Hindu scriptures, and interactive puzzles that helped in the understanding of Hindu concepts.
The youths left the shibir with a clear idea of how Hinduism is relevant and practical even in today’s modern age.
