More than 70 adults and children from various parts of Scotland gathered at the Uphall Community Education Centre in Edinburgh on Saturday 18 June 2016 for an enlightening one-day family shibir.
The shibir was entitled ‘Sant Te Swayam Hari’ and held in the presence of sadhus from BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London. Delegates were enlightened on the spiritual connection between Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Bhagwan Swaminarayan and learned about the divine qualities that he has portrayed throughout his life.
Sadhus delivered insightful discourses, which included scriptural references detailing the attributes of the Brahmaswarup Guru, and explained how Swamishri’s life is an epitome of these principles. The participants were encouraged to imbibe these values in their own lives in order to experience inner peace and fulfilment.
Creative multimedia presentations helped to reinforce the key messages of the shibir, while the young children played games and engaged in activities innovatively presented to help them learn from Swamishri’s virtuous life. Families also had an opportunity to work together on a fun team-building activity.
Participants thoroughly enjoyed the day and shared positive feedback, appreciating especially the practicality of the teachings and the lucid way they were presented. The shibir helped individuals grow in their understanding of and spiritual relationship with Swamishri.
