The 10th-anniversary celebration held on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11, 2016, marked a historical moment for BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Nashville, TN. Through the inspiration of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj and His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, Pujya Swamis, devotees and well-wishers from around the region converged to mark this momentous occasion. Décor created by volunteer efforts adorned the halls and Mandir complex, creating a festive environment for the occasion. The Mandir’s entrance was embellished with a large 16 ft. gate and 1,000 flags surrounding the mandir campus welcoming all devotees to the festival.
The first day’s festivities saw a program for women. Through a series of skits, musical interludes, and elevating talks, attendees explored the importance of cultivating a value-based life through the practice of becoming ideal devotees. A Suvarna Tula took place in the afternoon in which devotees and well-wishers lovingly offered their seva. The evening culminated with the melodious sounds of a Kirtan Aradhana; wherein devotional hymns were sung by Pujya Shobhitswarupdas Swami and multiple singers and musicians from the region.
Sunday morning began with a mahapuja, along with an annakut. The main Patotsav program themed Nishthavaan Bhava, showcased the value of leading a Satsang-centric life through a series of videos and skits. His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj and Pujya Kothari Swami (Pujya Bhaktipriyadas Swami) sent video blessings specifically for the occasion. Additionally, Pujya Shantmurtidas Swami gave a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of Hindu values, and the integral role that Mandir plays in the community to build a foundation for these values.
The dance finale orchestrated and performed by the youth was a feast for the senses combining upbeat music, stunning visuals, and lights. Preparation for this unique event started months ago with people of all age groups joining to compose the program which was a fitting tribute to a decade of growth and expansion into the community.
