Following the inauguration ceremony of the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Adelaide, the first Community Open Day was held on Saturday, 13 June 2015.
The event provided visitors with an opportunity to explore the Mandir facilities and various activities performed by BAPS. The session commenced with children reciting Sanskrit verses of shantipath for world peace followed by a brief presentation about BAPS and its local activities in Adelaide.
Guests were given a guided tour to expound the significance of the Sacred images in the shrine, Nilkanth Abhishek Mandapam, dining hall and the various activity rooms. The mandir's range of environment friendly features and state-of-the-art modern construction were appreciated by visitors.
Youths and children presented different activities like playing traditional Indian musical instruments, singing devotional songs and participating in Gujarati language classes to give guests some insight of these routine activities.
Guests commended BAPS for the planning and design of such a complex and thanked the volunteers for their positive contribution to the local community through various community activities like Tree plantation, Blood donation and raising funds for local hospitals. BAPS activities have become an integral part of the area and are supported by the local and wider community.
