Over 1,500 BAPS volunteers gathered at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Robbinsville, NJ to attend the BAPS North America Leadership Seminar held from August 10 -12, 2014 in the presence of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Sadguru Pujya Mahant Swami, Sadguru Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami and Sadguru Pujya Tyagvallabh Swami.
The seminar explored the theme of “Yagnapurush Chhe Sathe.” The focus commemorated Shastriji Maharaj’s 150th birth celebration by elaborating on four aspects of agna, upasana, sadbhav and paksh. Over the course of the seminar, speeches by Pujya Sadguru swamis explored how these four aspects are integral for leaders to understand and imbibe within spiritual lives. The delegates further delved into the practical application of these concepts within their personal spiritual path.
Pujya Mahant Swami spoke about Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s adherence on following agna and seeing divinity in devotees. Another session elaborated on all the components of upasana. Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami spoke about developing paksh or loyalty of Bhagwan, His devotees, and the Sanstha, and understanding that everything happens, whether good or bad, according to the wish of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The seminar offered practical nuggets of wisdom to further each individual’s spiritual and social progress.
Breakout sessions for departments were organized after the common sessions which enabled volunteers to discuss and plan their specific activities. Further guidance and encouragement came from the closing session as volunteers learned about Swamishri’s wishes for volunteers, focusing specifically on developing one’s personal Satsang, understanding the importance of seva and remaining humble while performing it. The positive spiritual messages throughout the seminar enthused and guided all the volunteers towards earnestly doing their best.
