For the second year running, BAPS Adelaide participated in the annual ‘Indian Mela’ local community event organized by the Indian Australian Association of South Australia (IAASA) at Elder Park, Adelaide, on 2 April 2011.
Around 15 balaks sang the Vedic verses of Shantipath (Vedic Prayer for Universal Peace) and performed a folk dance on the glory of India. Throughout the day BAPS volunteers gave the visitors a flavor of India by running a vegetarian food stall and displaying useful information on Hinduism and Indian Culture. BAPS youths also participated in the charity chocolate-selling stall and environment friendly activities, such as collecting more than 3,000 cans for recycling. The event attracted more than 4,000 people of all backgrounds and cultures.
