On Thursday 1 January 2004, Wellingborough Satsang Mandal celebrated its annual twelve hour long national Akhand Dhun. This is the twentieth year that this celebration has been held and this year it surpassed all records when devotees from Ashton, Preston, Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Brighton, Southend, Colchester, Nottingham, Southampton, Loughborough, Leicester, London and other places throughout the UK braved the inclement weather to attend the annual gathering. This annual celebration is held to pray for Swamishri’s good health, world peace and prosperity.
Devotees came throughout the day starting from 7 a.m. upto 7 p.m. A large marquee was erected next to the Mandir and on entry devotees were welcomed by applying a chandlo on their forehead. After performing circumambulations (pradakshinas) around the Akshar Deri the devotees sat in the chanting of the dhun. The climax was in the evening when ten sadhus from London attended, including Pujya Atmaswarup Swami who extolled the glory of the Akshar Deri.
