Weekly assemblies were begun in BAPS Swaminarayan Mandirs by Yogiji Maharaj, reinforcing the tradition of regular discources and kirtans as begun by Bhagwan Swaminarayan. 

An assembly, commonly called 'satsang sabha,' begins with a prayer followed by kirtans. Spiritual discources by sadhus and learned devotees are based on the Vachanamrut, Swami Ni Vato, or other scriptures. Youth and kids often present religious and philosophical concepts by enacting dramas.
