The BAPS Yogi Cup Tournament is an annual sporting event that features high school and collegiate youth (kishores) competing for the championship in their respective divisions. The tournament is deeply rooted in the principles of samp (unity), suhradbhav (solidarity), and ekta (oneness) that were fostered by Yogiji Maharaj. Over the course of three days, kishores participating in the tournament are imbued with these messages and values.
In addition to promoting satsang concepts, the Yogi Cup also serves as a platform for kishores to develop interpersonal skills, such as teamwork, leadership, and collaboration. Pujya Swamis and volunteers ensure that every aspect of the Yogi Cup is relevant to satsang through various activities, rules, and guidelines. Morning and evening programs are held to further reinforce satsang values and principles, allowing kishores to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the role of satsang in their daily lives. Additionally, kishores participate in daily rituals such as arti and cheshta during the event.
The Yogi Cup creates a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere, providing an opportunity for kishores to compete in team basketball, three point contest, and skills competition while establishing lifelong connections with fellow kishores from across the region. It also serves as a means for geographically dispersed kishore mandals to come together and connect as a whole.
Mahant Swami Maharaj continues to carry forward the profound vision of his gurus, HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj and HH Yogiji Maharaj, by encouraging youths to participate in all aspects of the organization, including performing community service, engaging in weekly spiritual assemblies, summer youth conventions, and events such as the Yogi Cup. The tournament remains an essential platform for kishores to cultivate their personal spirituality and build stronger bonds with their guru and fellow kishores through the principles of samp, suhradbhav, and ekta.
