Two days of celebrations marked the inauguration of the new BAPS Mandir in Gurugram, the famous cyber city of Delhi-NCR, in the presence of Pujya Ishwarcharandas Swami, Pujya Viveksagardas Swami, other BAPS swamis from Swaminarayan Akshardham, New Delhi, and numerous distinguished guests and devotees.
The construction of the Gurugram mandir had begun on 29 March 2021. Over three years, local devotees, guided by guru Param Pujya Mahant Swamiji Maharaj, diligently completed this construction work through their selfless efforts.
On the morning of 6 July 2024, the Vedic Mahapuja and World Peace Mahayagna were performed on the mandir premises. In the evening, a magnificent procession honoring the murtis took place through the streets of Sector 46. Joining the BAPS swamis in this festive parade were devotees, youths and children dressed in colorful attire. The women devotees participated in the procession by carrying kalashes on their heads as per tradition, dancing and singing kirtans, and carrying the palanquin of Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj. The residents of the city also enjoyed the celebratory procession.
On the morning of 7 July, Madhurvadan Swami recited the Vedic mantras as Pujya Ishwarcharandas Swami and Pujya Viveksagar Swami performed the murti-pratishtha rituals.
In the assembly, after a speech by Dharmavatsaldas Swami, Munivatsaldas Swami recounted the history of satsang in Gurugram. Then, Pujya Viveksagar Swami spoke, “Through BAPS, over 1,400 mandirs have been constructed worldwide. The purpose of these mandirs is to promote social and spiritual welfare for all. This mandir will be a foundation of spirituality, culture, and education.”
Therafter, Pujya Ishwarcharandas Swami defined a mandir, “Where the mind finds peace, there lies a mandir. Gurugram was the village of guru Dronacharya, thus this sacred land has been steeped in love and devotion for god and guru for ages. Today, this guru-disciple heritage has taken the form of this mandir."
Previously, on 28 April 2024, in Sarangpur, Gujarat, Param Pujya Mahant Swamiji Maharaj had performed the Vedic murti-pratishtha rituals of the murtis.
