On Saturday 10 August 2024, BAPS Ireland and Northern Ireland organised an inspiring Karyakar Shibir held in Dublin, Ireland, on the theme, ‘Maru Kartavya’ (My Duty). The event brought together volunteers from across the region to deepen their understanding of their responsibilities and seva within their respective centres. The shibir was enriched with a series of insightful sessions and activities, each designed to inspire, uplift, and empower the delegates.
The day commenced with samuh puja. This collective act of worship set a spiritually uplifting tone for the shibir, providing the participants with an opportunity to align their minds and hearts with God, reinforcing the devotional foundation of their seva and the rest of the day’s activities.
The following session featured an inspiring presentation by Manoharmurtidas Swami in which he delved into the essence of our duty in our personal and spiritual life. The talk emphasised the importance of fulfilling one’s responsibilities with dedication and selflessness, as exemplified by our Gurus.
A unique highlight of the day was an interview with Mangaltirthdas Swami and Manoharmurtidas Swami. This interactive session provided attendees with profound insights into the spirit of selfless service, with the swamis sharing valuable experiences, uplifting examples, and practical guidance on how to improve one’s approach to doing seva in our daily life.
After a light meal, the participants enjoyed interactive team-building activities followed by ‘Lessons Learnt’ discussions. The games enhanced collaboration, trust, and communication, all vital for effective community service.
The final session provided practical guidelines on how karyakars should offer services within the community, emphasising the importance of living according to the values and principles revealed by Bhagwan Swaminarayan and lived by the Gunatit Gurus.
One delegate from Belfast shared, “I feel so motivated now! This shibir has helped me gain valuable insights into what I need to do more of and what I need to improve upon. I really hope we can have a shibir like this every year, because it’s charged us all.” Another volunteer added, “This shibir has answered many of the queries I have been having. I feel confident and energised to improve in my seva.”
