On July 13 and 14, 2024, over 1,000 international students from across Canada gathered at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto, ON. The shibir was themed ‘Jivan Sutro: The Path To Success’. It provided guidance and encouragement to those who came to Canada for their higher education. The event, graced by the presence of Pujya Gnaneshwardas Swami, Senior Swami, and Pujya Gnanvatsaldas Swami, a renowned motivational speaker whose wisdom has inspired millions globally, was a remarkable gathering. The shibir focused on imparting three essential principles for success: Niyamit Abyas Karvo (study regularly), Niyam-Dharma Ni Dradhta Rakhvi (adhere to daily rituals without exception), and Niyamit Satsang Karvo (engage in spiritual activities regularly).
In keynote speech, Pujya Gnanvatsaldas Swami provided invaluable guidance on achieving success in personal, academic, and spiritual life. His address, titled "Goal: Dream, Plan, Achieve," presented a comprehensive roadmap for reaching goals in both academic and personal life, enriched with practical examples. He also offered strategies for overcoming obstacles on the path to success.
The shibir showcased a diverse array of professionals who enriched the event through dynamic panel discussions. These sessions underscored the value of academic excellence while featuring personal success stories and experiences. Attendees actively participated in discussions aimed at enhancing communication skills and engaged in interactive group sessions that addressed both academic and life challenges.
A highlight of the event was the presence of Hon. David Piccini, Ontario’s Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training & Skills Development. Minister Piccini highlighted the significant contributions of newcomers to Ontario’s prosperity and participated enthusiastically in an interactive Q&A session, providing valuable insights to the audience.
Pujya Gnaneshwardas Swami shared personal experiences from his own student life and offered detailed guidance. He encouraged students to maintain discipline and focus in their academic and personal pursuits, drawing from positive influences to achieve success in their education.
The seminar covered practical topics such as social media addiction, time management, immigration challenges, dietary choices, financial pressures, and strategies for managing overthinking. Engaging presentations, including skits, videos, and drama, made the content relatable and impactful. Interactive Q&A sessions provided valuable advice on balancing academic success with maintaining a spiritual life. Additionally, workshop activities encouraged participants to disconnect from social media, fostering enhanced focus and engagement.
