On June 8, 2024, the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Montgomery, Alabama, joyously celebrated the opening of their new temple and conducted the Murti Sthapan Vidhi, a sacred installation ceremony.
The consecration ceremony of the sacred images was initially performed on
August 20, 2023, by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj in Robbinsville, NJ.
The festivities began on the evening of June 7, 2024, with a Kirtan Aradhana, where Pujya Shobhitswarupdas Swami, other swamis, and young devotees performed devotional songs. The next day, the Murti Sthapan Vidhi ceremony attracted over 500 devotees and well-wishers. Pujya Yagnavallabhdas Swami led the ceremony, which was accompanied by the chanting of Vedic Shlokas. The celebrations continued with the women's cultural program on June 9, 2024. This ceremony welcomed everyone, emphasizing the Mandir's role as a spiritual home open to all. This event marked the culmination of three days of various celebratory activities.
The new Mandir is set to be a central hub for cultural, social, and religious activities for the Hindu-American community and will also support various community service initiatives.
